Director's Statement: There is an expanding universe inside every vault, cage and cell, all echo chambers to contemplate contradictory forces. DARK MATTER(S) is an experimental short that poetically, visually and sonically explores the never ending dualities between inside and outside, light and dark, life and death, terrestrial and the unknown extra. All the sound effects are taken (and manipulated) from space to sound as though they are coming from a fish tank--and perhaps elsewhere... To eclipse the oppression of the fishs' enclosure, satellites noises are turned to bubbles, while the same sounds are stretched and turned into a throbbing call from the outside. Although it can be difficult, catching a glimpse of the important dance between these varying contraries is the main objective of DARK MATTER(S). Dark matter is invisible, yet it makes up a large portion of the universe. Little is known about this phenomena, yet it is integral to the foundation of the universe. The transcendence from enclosure, the escape from our cell, the light at the end of the tunnel are all at one time invisible and unknowable to us in a very singular way, however those moments of darkness unite us. They matter.
